This exercise is usually run over the last weekend in November each year. It involves the transmission and reception of drill messages, usually consisting of a combination of letters and numbers which changes regularly, to as many other stations as possible on as many frequencies as possible during the 24hr period. The competition is divided into two separate phases, usually 1400-2359 on the Saturday and 0001-1400 on the Sunday.
There are occassionally morse and data sections within the above times which run in a very similar manner to the voice competition. Most of the NRN HF frequencies are used and there are bonuses for communicating with the same station on multiple frequencies within each phase.
